Semiconductors and Sensors
Copper Alloys for Lead Frames
Backgrounds and Trends
Lead frames are thin metal plates used for interconnects inside microchips.
As semiconductor packages become more compact and low-profile, the lead frames themselves must also be made thinner.
Material Requirements
High-strength materials are needed to make thinner lead frames. The materials must also provide excellent flatness and oxide layer adhesion, and must have a low elongation ratio.
